L’histoire mondiale de Fischer (première édition 1965–1983) est, avec ses 36 volumes, une entreprise éditoriale sans équivalent. Une équipe d’éminents spécialistes élabore actuellement une  nouvelle édition de cette œuvre monumentale et poursuit une approche d’»histoire régionale mondiale«. Wolfgang Schwentker (université d’Osaka et éditeur de la série) et Christoph Cornelißen (université de Francfort et éditeur du volume Europa im 20. Jahrhundert) présenteront la conception à l’Institut Historique Allemand de Paris et discuteront les enjeux du projet »écrire l’histoire du monde« dans un contexte plus large. La table ronde se concentrera sur le rôle des interconnexions et de la construction du récit. Harald Fischer-Tiné (ETH Zurich) commentera du point de vue de la recherche sur le sous-continent indien, Merry Wiesner-Hanks (université du Wisconsin et éditeur de Cambridge World History) du point de vue de la recherche anglo-américaine, Quentin Deluermoz (université Sorbonne-Paris-Nord) du point de vue de la recherche française et Catherine Coquery-Vidrovitch (université de Paris) du point de vue de la recherche sur l’Afrique subsaharienne.

L’événement (avec traduction simultanée anglais-français) se déroulera dans un format hybride en coopération avec le DHI Washington, le MIASA Accra et le Max Weber Forum for South Asian Studies.

With its 36 volumes, The Fischer World History (first edition 1965–1983) is unmatched as a publishing venture. A team of renowned experts is currently working on a new edition of this monumental work and is pursuing a »world regional history« approach. Wolfgang Schwentker (University of Osaka and editor of the series) and Christoph Cornelißen (University of Frankfurt and editor of the volume Europa im 20. Jahrhundert) will present the project at the German Historical Institute Paris. Centering around the challenges of »writing world history« in a broader context, the panel discussion will focus on the role of entanglement and narrative formation. Harald Fischer-Tiné (ETH Zurich) will comment from the research perspective of the Indian subcontinent, Merry Wiesner-Hanks (University of Wisconsin and editor of Cambridge World History) from the perspective of the anglo-american research, Quentin Deluermoz (University Sorbonne-Paris-Nord) from the perspective of the French research and Catherine Coquery-Vidrovitch (University of Paris) from the perspective of the research on the sub-Saharan Africa.

The event (with simultaneous translation English-French) will take place in a hybrid format in cooperation with the GHI Washington, MIASA Accra and the Max Weber Forum for South Asian Studies.
